I love this shrimp tacos air fryer recipe because it comes together quickly and making shrimp in air fryer takes all the guesswork out of cooking it. Don’t worry about rubbery overcooked shrimp, air frying shrimp is one of the easiest ways to cook this shellfish.
Ingredients Needed:
- Shrimp
- Cabbage – A fresh cabbage slaw tossed in my Creamy Jalapeño Salsa gives these air fried shrimp tacos a fresh crunch.
- Creamy Jalapeno Salsa – a mixture of plain yogurt (or sour cream), olive oil, lime juice, jalapeno, garlic, and cilantro.
- Pico de Gallo – a combination of chopped tomato, onion, and serrano peppers, with salt, lime juice, and cilantro. For this recipe, I buy premade pico de gallo to save time.
- Avocado
- Taco Seasoning – a spice mixture of cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, oregano, salt and pepper.
- Tortillas – If you’re watching your carb intake, you can easily make these low carb shrimp tacos by using a low carb tortilla.

How to Make Air Fryer Shrimp Tacos
These Mexican shrimp tacos are quick and easy to prepare. Air fryer tacos are fun to make and easy for ‘little helpers’ to make along side you in the kitchen as well. Healthy air fryer shrimp no breading makes for an easy clean-up!
First, start by making the Creamy Jalapeno Salsa. Mix as much or as little creamy salsa as desired in with the cabbage to make the slaw and set it aside. Next, preheat the air fryer and pat the shrimp dry. In a bowl, drizzle the shrimp with olive oil and season with the homemade taco seasoning blend. Mix well.
Next, spray the air fryer basket with olive oil spray and add the shrimp. Be careful not to overcrowd the basket with shrimp so each one cooks evenly.

How long to air fry shrimp?
Each air fryer is different, but most will cook shrimp at 400° for 6 minutes. You do not need to shake or flip the shrimp half way through. Shrimp should be cooked to an internal temperature of 120°.
Once the air fryer shrimp has cooked it’s time for the best part – assemble your shrimp baja tacos and dig in!

Additional Toppings for Shrimp Tacos
The possibilities are endless, but here are a few of my favorite toppings for tacos:
- mango or pineapple salsa
- sautéed onions and peppers
- pickled red onions
- cotija cheese
- guacamole
- sour cream
What to Serve with Shrimp Tacos?
The perfect side dish for tacos are chips and guacamole with a side of rice and beans. I love to cook this super easy Cauliflower Spanish Rice recipe when making these tasty tacos.
Tacos and margaritas are a classic combination! I love to munch on air fried shrimp tacos with our famous family recipe, Frozen Minute Maid Limeade Margarita.

Tips & Tricks for Air Fryer Shrimp Tacos
- You can cook frozen shrimp in air fryer, but I prefer to quick thaw shrimp first. Thaw shrimp quickly by running cold water over it for a few minutes. Taco seasoning sticks to thawed shrimp better.
- Make the salsa as spicy or as mild as you would like based on how much jalapeno you add. The ribs and seeds of the jalapeno are spiciest parts, so you may want to remove those for a more mild air fryer shrimp taco.
- If you want to make keto shrimp tacos, use low carb tortillas or substitute lettuce to make this into a shrimp taco salad.
- Any leftovers should be stored in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
