This ultimate Nutella milkshake recipe is quick and easy to prepare with ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen, so let’s tame that sweet tooth.

What you will need:

  • Milk
  • Nutella – or any chocolate hazelnut spread
  • Ice cream – this Nutella shake can be made with chocolate or vanilla ice cream depending on your flavor preference.
  • Optional milkshake toppings – whipped cream, sprinkles, chocolate syrup, or crushed hazelnuts
  • Blender – my favorite blender is the NutriBullet
Ingredients: two jars of Nutella stacked on top of each other, a pint of chocolate ice cream, and a jug of milk.

How to Make a Nutella Milkshake

To make this Nutella drink, you only need a few ingredients and a blender. This Nutella smoothie can be made in less than 5 minutes, so you don’t have to wait long when the craving hits!

You may want to let your ice cream sit for a couple minutes to soften up. Add milk, ice cream, and Nutella to the blender and blend until smooth.

Pour the creamy milkshake into a glass and top with any additional toppings. I like to serve this drink in these old fashioned milkshake glasses.

Nutella Milkshake Substitutions & Flavor Variations

You can use vanilla or chocolate ice cream depending on your flavor preference. Vanilla ice cream allows the nuttiness of the Nutella flavor to come through more, while chocolate ice cream gives a more intense chocolate flavor.

If you want to make this a dairy free Nutella milkshake, simply substitute milk and ice cream with dairy free versions. Nutella has skim milk powder in its ingredients, so you may want to purchase this dairy free Nutella-like spread for a completely dairy free milkshake.
