Why You'll Love this Recipe

  • This creamy smoothie tastes like a snickers candy bar without added sugar and preservatives.
  • This Snickers smoothie is full of superfood ingredients, like cacao powder, chia seeds, and dates.
  • It's both dairy free and gluten free.

Ingredients

  • Milk of choice - Any milk will work in this smoothie, so it's easy to make a vegan and dairy free smoothie, if you wish.
  • Pitted Date - Dates are a sweet flavored fruit that grow in clusters at the top of the date palm tree. Dates are full of fiber and aide in detoxifying the body. Dates are extremely nutritious and support brain and bone health.
  • Cacao Powder - This plant-based superfood is less processed and a healthier alternative to cocoa powder. Cacao has a delicious, rich chocolate taste and is high in iron and magnesium. If you're in a pinch, cocoa powder can be used.
  • Chia Seeds - Chia seeds are a great source of Omega-3 and fiber. Adding these to the smoothie will help keep you feeling fuller longer.
  • Banana - fresh or frozen banana. When my bananas start to turn brown, I peel them and put them in a ziplock bag in the freezer, so I always have frozen bananas for smoothies.
  • Peanut Butter
Ingredients needed to make this smoothie recipe: milk, date, banana, peanut butter, chia seeds, and cacao powder.

How to Make a Snickers Smoothie

This date snickers smoothie is easy to make. Simply put all ingredients in a blender, I use a Nutribullet, and blend well. When the smoothie is blended completely, pour it into a glass and enjoy!

Pro Tips

  • The date can be difficult to breakup and blend completely, so you may need to blend twice to get it smooth.
  • Use a frozen banana to make an extra cold smoothie without ice.

Hi, I'm allergic to banana, any suggestions on an alternative? Apple sauce just doesn't work the same.

Although it would change the original flavor of this smoothie, you could substitute the banana with 1/2 cup of yogurt.

Tried it with frozen banana like you suggested and without any changes and it does taste like snickers. It is delicious. Thanks so much

Instead of using ice, I cut the bananas up in 1-inch pieces and freeze them. In fact, I freeze all of my smoothie fruit. That way the smoothie doesn't taste watered down, but it's still nice and cold.

Thanks for sharing this Snickers-inspired recipe! Snickers is one of my favorite chocolate snacks. Unfortunately, it's hard to find dates where I live. Any suggested alternative?

Good alternatives to a date would be prunes, dried figs, or raisins. Also, many stores now sell date syrup. Let me know how it turns out. Enjoy!
