This spooky Halloween margarita is a bright green, sweet-tart cocktail made with blanco tequila, Midori melon liqueur, fresh lime, and orange liqueur. A shimmering swirl of edible glitter and dramatic black sugar rim turn this easy 5-minute drink into the ultimate witches brew cocktail for a Halloween party. Cheers to spooky season with this vibrant green Halloween margarita recipe!
Chill the glass. For an extra-cold margarita, place the margarita glass in the freezer while you gather the ingredients.
Prepare the black sugar rim. Pour the black sugar onto a small plate. Run a lime wedge around the outside edge of the chilled glass, then gently dip and rotate the rim in the sugar until evenly coated.
Make the margarita. Fill a cocktail shaker generously with ice. Add the tequila, Midori, triple sec, simple syrup, fresh lime juice, and a small pinch of edible glitter. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds, or until the outside of the shaker feels very cold.
Strain and serve. Strain into the chilled, sugar-rimmed glass and serve immediately. The margarita should be vibrant green, ice-cold, and lightly shimmering. If the glitter begins to settle, give the drink a gentle swirl before sipping.
Notes
Use a small pinch of edible glitter, about ¼ teaspoon for one drink, to make this drink sparkle. Make sure it is labeled edible and food-safe for beverages.
You can use store-bought simple syrup or make your own by dissolving one cup of white sugar in one cup of boiling water on the stove.
Prefer a less-sweet margarita? Start with ¼ ounce simple syrup instead of ½ ounce, or omit it and taste after shaking. You can also add a splash more fresh lime juice.
For a pitcher: Multiply the recipe by 12 and combine 2¼ cups tequila with ¾ cup each Midori, triple sec, simple syrup, and fresh lime juice. Chill well, then add the edible glitter just before serving. Your existing post already uses these proportions for 12 drinks.
