In a rocks glass, combine brown sugar and water. Add 2-3 dashes of aromatic bitters and muddle or gently stir until the sugar has mostly dissolved.
Pour bourbon into the glass and add an ice cube. Gently stir to combine and chill the cocktail. Serve immediately.

Try using my brown sugar simple syrup rather than brown sugar and water separately to minimize the use of sugar granules in your drink for a smoother, more even sweetness.
Use large ice cubes to prevent excessive dilution and maintain the drink's integrity.
For the garnish: Twist citrus oils from a fresh orange peel over the drink and add cocktail cherries for a final touch before serving.
