BBQ Chicken Flatbread

Ingredients

  • 2 flatbread crusts or naan bread
  • 1 cup chicken cooked and cut into bite sized pieces
  • 1 ½ cups barbecue sauce
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • ¼ cup red onion thinly sliced
  • Optional toppings: cilantro, red pepper flakes, and parmesan

Garlic Butter Crust

  • 1 Tablespoon butter melted
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon parmesan cheese grated

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425 °F. Place a naan flatbread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, add chicken and 1 cup of BBQ sauce. Stir to coat chicken in sauce and set aside. (Note: you can also cook BBQ chicken in the crockpot as detailed in the post above)
  • In a separate bowl, combine garlic butter crust ingredients. Using a pastry brush, brush the garlic butter around the edges of the flatbread.
  • Add a layer of ¼ cup barbecue sauce to each flatbread leaving a rim around the edges for the crust. Next, add layers of cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  • Spread BBQ chicken and red onions evenly on each flatbread. Bake at 425°F for 8-10 minutes. Watch closely towards the end of baking to ensure the crust doesn't burn.
  • Let the flatbread sit for a couple minutes before slicing. Top with chopped cilantro, red pepper flakes, parmesan, and a drizzle of BBQ sauce, if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • If you cook more than one naan flatbread at a time or use a different size of naan, cook times will vary. This recipe is for one original sized naan pizza. I used original-size naan from the brand Stonefire.
  • You don't need to measure all of the ingredients. I usually just eyeball it based on my personal preferences.
